Jack Skellington Costume
Instructions
Tips & Warnings
- 1Spray paint a red four square ball or kickball white and allow it to dry. Make sure that the spray paint is usable for plastic items, or the paint may rub off easily.
- 2Cut a hole in the bottom of the ball that is just big enough for you to get your head into as the ball will need to cover your whole head.
- 3Use scissors or box cutters to make two large circles for eyes and two small slits for a nose.
- 4Tape or glue black mesh on the inside of the ball to cover the eyes holes and nose slits. This will allow you to be able to breath and see, but will keep the illusion of black hollow eyes.
- 5Draw a mouth onto the ball below the nose slits, and set the head aside.
- 6Take an old black suit from your closet or a thrift store and use white craft paint to paint vertical stripes down the entire costume. For a cool effect, try to find some paint that also glows in the dark.
- 7Cut the top off of an old black dress shirt. You only need the shirt from the shoulders up, and not including any part of the sleeves. Also, cut the collar off, but leave the first button or two so that you can fasten it around your neck later.
- 8Slice the top part of the old shirt so that you have several spiky pieces.
- 9Spray the spiky pieces of the old black shirt top heavily with spray starch, and iron it on high until it stands out by itself.
- 10Put the suit on with a white dress shirt or T-shirt underneath, button the spiky collar made from the old black shirt around your neck, put some white gloves on your hands and black dress shoes on your feet, and place the ball mask onto your head. Your Jack Skellington costume is now complete.

Jack Skellington Face Paint
Instructions
- 1Look in a mirror as you paint your face so that you can see what you are doing. Load a face-painting sponge with white paint by dipping the edge of the sponge in water and rotating it in paint. Paint your entire face white.
- 2Use a black-loaded face-painting sponge to paint around the eyes. This is done by pressing the sponge on your closed eye, while looking with the other eye, and rotating the sponge to fill your entire eye socket. Then paint the other eye the same way.
- 3Load a soft-bristled wide brush to clean up the black around the eyes. A brush is loaded by dipping the brush in water and rubbing it in paint. Paint the eyes so that they are slightly diagonal ovals, slanting downward and outward around the eye and a little onto the cheek using the wide brush.
- 4Paint two black marks on your nose using a medium round brush. These marks start on the nostril and go inward toward the top of the nose coming to a point. This is done by pressing the brush fully on your nostril, then lift the brush as it comes to the top of the nose so that the tip of the brush brings it to a point.
- 5Use a soft-bristled small round detail brush to paint a black line that goes from the back of your cheek to the corner of your mouth on both sides of your face. These lines should curve upward to extend the smile on the mouth. Paint short black lines every quarter inch or so, extending diagonally and vertically out the top and bottom of the line. This should look like bad stitch work. Continue these short lines from the opening in the mouth, onto the upper and bottom lip.
